Community Events at The Dole Mansion in Crystal Lake, Illinois

A unique historical property that is now a non-profit located in Crystal Lake, Illinois, The Dole, is a Victorian-era Italianate residence built for Charles Sidney Dole in 1865. It ranks among the region’s most important historic structures. Charles Dole’s acquisition of more than 1,000 acres of land surrounding the mansion and lake resulted in the creation of Lakeland Farms, which was acquired by the famous Ringling family in 1922. The Dole was restored and expanded into the Crystal Lake Country Club, which consisted of 44 bedrooms and two 18-hole golf courses.

The Lakeside Legacy Foundation was founded to save The Dole from demolition and development in 2002. The Dole is now perhaps best known for the the Annual 4th of July Lakeside Festival and the Farmers Market+ at The Dole series of events, which take place every Sunday from late May through mid-autumn, except for late June and early July. The Dole hosts a range of additional events throughout the year, from the Lou’s Lounge speak-easy live music performances to art galas displaying the works of local artisans and creative entrepreneurs in the mansion and Lakeside building. Individuals and businesses can also rent out The Mansion, The Gallery, or Lou’s Lounge for special events.
